First Awards Received for the Young Brand

Kihei, Hawaii (April 9, 2020) – Less than one year after its launch, Kupu Spirits announces it has earned four medals at the prestigious American Distilling Institute (“ADI”) Conference. The brand’s three ready-to-drink cocktails and its Certified Craft Distilled Gin each earned a Bronze Medal in their respective category and class.

A brand extension of Hawaii’s largest independent craft brewery, Kupu Spirits debuted in Summer 2019 with the launch of a ready-to-drink craft canned cocktail collection including Whiskey Ginger, Whiskey Cola, and Gin & Tonic varieties. The craft cocktails blend Kupu Spirits Whiskey and Gin with Maui Brewing Company’s Island Sodas, which are created in-house using all-natural ingredients such as cane sugar, local island honey, and Hawaii-grown ginger.

Kupu Spirits Gin is distilled from grain and a proprietary blend of botanicals including juniper, kaffir lime, local oranges, lemon peel, licorice root and hibiscus. It is gluten free and 88 proof. Kupu Spirits is set to launch on the mainland this summer in markets where Maui Brewing Company can be found.

Since 2007, the American Distilling Institute began the annual “Judging of Craft Spirits,” the oldest and largest competition dedicated to craft spirits. The competition recognizes distillers providing the finest quality artisan spirits. This year, 885 entries were received from the US and international countries for evaluation across 95 categories and classes within those categories.
